If you do not like using hashtags or finds it difficult to keep adding the hash before a word then there is good news for you.
To make it more convenient for the users, the company has made major changes related to the search terms. The users in English-speaking countries like the US, UK, Ireland, Canada and others will now be able to search profiles/Accounts and other information by directly typing the word without using the # symbol on Instagram.
It means that you can directly type Trump in the Instagram search box and it will show you the profile page and other posts where this word was mentioned. Earlier #trump was used to search and find the Account which is not the case now.
Moreover, if you like then you can still use the hashtag symbol to add keywords in the Instagram description and stories.
To provide accurate results, Instagram is using AI which considers a number of factors to give appropriate results. So far, only a few general terms are enabled to be searched without using the hashtag but, later there are high chances that it might completely stop using the hashtag keywords.
Anyway, it is a big change that Instagram has done after a long time which will eventually increase the use of this popular social media app.
