Does Bluetooth connection consume more battery?

Bluetooth was introduced in the 90s and since then the wired connection between smartphone and other Bluetooth devices was completely wiped. The wired USB cable was no longer necessary to transfer data between your mobile and other devices.

Bluetooth has its own pros and cons but comparatively the pros are more because it lets you connect with different Bluetooth devices and transfer data very fast unlike Infrared connection which was also good but used to take much time for even transferring a small file.

With Bluetooth, you can use so many apps and gadgets like a smartwatch, Bluetooth speakers, Bluetooth earphones and other devices that can be operated with a simple Bluetooth connection.

Now you can do so much with this technology and it is even hard to believe that it was first introduced in the 90s and in 2011 the Bluetooth 4.0 or classic connection was launched that lets you connect speakers and earphones.

With the advancement of Bluetooth connection, there is one wrong notion also that people have for a long time. People think that using a Bluetooth connection impacts the smartphone battery which is not completely true because other connectivity options like Wi-Fi and GPS consume more power from the phone battery as compared to the Bluetooth connection which uses negligible power.

So, using Bluetooth alone will not consume much battery power but if used along with other connectivity’s then it may have an impact on the battery. So, in case if you ever have a low battery or want to instantly power up the mobile then switch off the mobile and then charge it if you put off the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS then your mobile battery would get charged rapidly.

If you are still thinking about the Bluetooth battery usage then it is better to keep it off if you have not connected any gadget which you can always pair again or nowadays gadgets are smart enough to remember the last paired device and sync the data once you switch your Bluetooth connection again.
